When you talk about social media platforms, I look back to the days when Friendster, Multiply, and MySpace were the "in" thing. Then, Facebook came on. I remembered joining that site some ten years ago, because some friends were moving there from another platform. I thought it was cool that I could then share my photo albums there. I really do not fancy having lots of photo albums lying around the house. Digital storage sounded like a cool idea.
Then came Instagram. I was late in joining in as I had to get myself a smartphone first before I was able to have an IG account. Since I really like taking photos and sharing them. Instagram became an instant favorite. I still post there once in a while, mostly to share about the latest places we get to visit.
Twitter is also one of the handiest sites to get hold of the latest news and updates. I also became enthralled with it for a while. I still use it as my Tumblr is automatically linked to my Twitter account.
I'm grateful for all these social media platforms as they are my windows to the world. I'm not a very sociable person, nor do I fancy hanging out at places flocked by crowds. But I enjoy traveling and sharing about my experiences. I also enjoy blogging and sharing photos. For me, it's a great way to learn more about different places and cultures. I learn much from social media platforms. The important thing to keep in mind, however, is the proper use of them. We need to be responsible netizens. A local campaign reminds folks to "think before you click." I think that's a worthwhile reminder to all who use social media platforms.
Let us do our part in making this world a better place. _
