I was able to buy fast food at Jack in the Box drive through last night using nothing but my Steem backed Dollars which I see as good as cash when it appears in my steemit wallet! To be honest only when bitpay has problems do I get anxiety but worst case scenario is I may have to pay 10-20% at the local bitcoin atm at lestats just a few blocks away, but id much rather use the 5-8% btc atms which are more of a 10-15 min drive away .. or I could just ask someone around me with a coinbase account to let me use it but thats not something id do everyday. I could also sell some bitcoin for cash using localbitcoin.com or localbitcoincash.com or even offer a small trade on mycelium and hope there is someome nearbye who woupd want to buy $20 or so worth of Bitcoin basically at spot OR at a profit to really help get that BTC flipped into cash fast! If you really are in a hurry to either buy bitcoin to get crypto or sell bitcoin to get cash then just put up your own localbitcoin.com ad and make the price simply so low or even better negative rates so the people buying your bitcoin for cash end up making a percent or two over spot... that will entice any local trader but the idea of the Bitpay card is we dont HAVE to set up trades like that anymore... theres just always plenty of demand for bitcoin that we can always just load it up on a prepaid card if we need cash.... and therefor this Bitpay card has made my life so much easier. Without it id be having to save up $100 in btc at a time and then cash it out in bulk larger amounts at terrible rates most often, compared to the speed and no fees on my Bitpay card... in fact i am even tempted to use my own ability to get cash with my Bitpay card to help others get cash for a fee but id rather not, just easier to have people use their own cards... Anyway Bitpay only ever had a few errors once or twice and they were temporary outtages for just a few hours. Same with blocktrades & if is down I can always use binance or Bittrex (bittrex cant handle new BCH addresses)
