The hackers used simple method here that happens often but never made such big loses.
The spoken whale lost $30M in BCH, $15 Million in BTC all because of .. SIM swap method.
But it gets more interesting the person worked in some known companies.
Currently the reddit thread is deleted where he shows proofs and signs things but he was asking for help from pools to double spend to get those back.
As you can see the amounts were split into loads of small sends now.
I never use any exchanges or wallets that want SIM verification and i suggest you also to not do so. Worth to mention he used blocchain.info (it seems!) wallet, where odd hacks occur.
Always use wallets that you own especially for years of storing such huge amounts of bitcoin.
Spread big amounts over loads of wallets and places even if you loose 1 or 2 you dont loose all.
Some people say he did the "hack" for tax evasion but i doubt it. He wouldnt have to go to media and post all this to do so.
