Meugang. Have you ever heard it? If not, I'll explain it. Meugang is a meat-eating tradition in Aceh, one of Indonesia's provinces. Meugang held 3 times a year.
Meugang first done one day before the month of Ramadan, then one day before Idul Fitri and Eid al-Adha.
Meugang aims to equate the degree of inter-population in Aceh in a glorious day in Islam. In the days I mentioned above all the people of Aceh will eat meat in their homes, both rich and poor.
At that time, men will buy meat in the market and then take it home to their parents or for their children and wives. If a woman only lives alone because her husband has died, then his brother who will deliver the meat to the house.
The big impression on meugang day is rich and poor eating the same food, so as not to cause jealousy in the hearts of people. In addition, meugang also become a community tradition in welcoming the holy month and feast day.
Even more interestingly, every Acehnese who are abroad and out of town will miss their home during the day. In fact, not infrequently they will shed tears, crying is not because of food, but meugang is also a day to gather family members in their respective homes.
