Mitchelton - Scott took their second win from 3 Stages in the Women's Tour Down Under 2019, with their new signing Grace Brown taking Stage 3, and Amanda Spratt remaining in the overall GC lead!
Stage 3 had quite the slow start, with no real action until the 80th kilometre of the 104.5km-long route. Belgian team Doltcini - Van Eyck Sport came to the front for the first time in the race and started pushing the pace, but were ultimately unable to get a rider into a break. Alé - Cipollini’s Chloe Hosking won the day's first intermediate sprint into Echunga, with Points competition leader Sarah Roy (Mitchelton - Scott) coming 3rd.
The only convincing break off of the front came from Tetyana Riabchenko (Doltcini - Van Eyck Sport), who managed to form a solo lead of over a minute, but was swiftly caught on the descent after winning the classified climb of Red Gum Hill.
The peleton was getting ready for a bunch sprint, and started the closing circuit as they crossed over the line before the actual finish. Soon after a bunch was sent off of the course, with the race being neutralised. When the race was back underway, Mitchelton - Scott dominated and completely took control - with Grace Brown winning the bunch sprint.
