Hei!!!
Today was Agricola's day, and the day of Finnish language.
We "celebrated" by making some Karelian pies today!
Kind of a food blog for today then... π
The rye dough is cut carefully into same size pieces.
...like this.
The pieces will be placed in a bowl under a wet towel so that they don't dry up.
Flatten them into "paper thin" circles.
Sprinkle some flour to keep the flat circles separate when piling them up.
Miro wanted to join the fun...
...and so did Leo!
...sprinkle that flour between the flat dough...
Now here's a perfect circle.
The sun was setting, so I snapped a shot.
Filling the dough with rice porridge.
...and then wrinkling it to close.
The pies are waiting to be put in the oven.
The boys seemed to have fun with making these.
And the pies after the oven.
I have to take Ninnu for a walk now, but if you want the recipe, just ask and I'll post one tomorrow.
