Last yr my Daughter and I attended a beekeeping gathering with a bunch of friends from all over the US just to hang out fellowship and to help an older gentleman during swarm season to keep his bees in his boxes. The host told her if she found a swarm and shook it, she could keep the bees.... She accepted that challenge.
As you can see when a bee colony has just swarmed they are very docile because they no longer have a home to defend, the only thing on their mind is finding a new home asap.
