World hunger effects 795,000,000 people in the world. Thats 795 million people in the world do NOT have enough food to lead a healthy active life style. And thats not okay. If you go to the back of most grocery stores, you will see pails, dumpsters, boxes full of wasted food. Lettuce that has turned a little brown, fruit and veggies that are bruised, boxed food that is "out of date", canned food that have been smashed. This would be a jack pot for someone whos hungry. Why do they throw these things away? Most towns/cities have local food banks who would love to receive these things, yet their cupboards are going bare. If we could make world hunger a larger topic to be discussed maybe we can change these things. Instead of these stores just throwing away this food, what if they had incentive to share their left overs with local food banks. What if restaurants had an incentive to feed the hungry instead of tossing pre-made food at the end of a shift.
Even in my small town of less than 24,000 people, our local food bank is ALWAYS needing more. The local churches always have posts on social media asking for help and donations. I have brought food up there by box fulls. The look in their eyes when you go in there with food to give is amazing. As I stand there looking at the bare shelves, I cant help but to let my very emotional side come through. There are so many adults and children, CHILDREN, that go without food daily. If each able person could bring in at least one bag of food, whether it be boxed food, can foods, fresh fruits and veggies, we could at least solve our local issues of hunger!!
