This year, 2018, will be my second year of teaching. Last year was a very big learning curve, but it has made me what I am today. I am a excited yet also nervous to receive my new learners for the year.
This is what my door looks like. The letters JUST fit in. Guess I got to thank by husband for that lengthy surname.
As soon as you enter the room you'll see my little desk nook in the corner. I admit it can be neater, but to be completely honest with you, it's impossible to keep a neat classroom with so many little ones. As long as it's clean, I'm a happy teacher and they're happy learners! This area is also STRICTLY off limits for the little monsters.
Moving on to the walls! The right wall (on the door's side) makes up mostly English posters and information.
There's a tiny weather chart to the side...
And at the back of the class we have our Mathematics wall. My word wall still needs some work...
Next up we have my very much limited "other" subjects wall. This includes natural sciences, geography, history and life skills. Will need to find some more things...
Lastly, here's a full view of my classroom from the back. Wear and tear shows on the board and walls, but that's life. Especially if the paint job was horrible. But no complaints :) I'm trying to keep in high hopes for the big day tomorrow. I have no idea who most of them are, so this will be my time to get to know them. The photo below this one is of my view from the class door. We have open air corridors which are a great relief in all seasons in their own way.
"The mediocre teacher tells. A good teacher explains. A superior teacher demonstrates. A great teacher inspires." - William A Ward
Let's hope we can all become those superior and GREAT teachers we aim to be. Good luck with your year! We can do this. We always do.
