Mindfulness:
- a state where you are giving full attention to the present; it's like living in the moment.
- in a mindful state, without judging whether they are either good or bad, we carefully observe thoughts and feelings
- one should practice mindfulness expectation to have a healthy and fresh mind and after a long period of practice and dedication towards it, we can even control our emotions.
There are several meditation exercises designed to develop mindfulness meditation.
- Sit on a straight-backed chair or sit cross-legged on the floor or a cushion, close eyes, try focusing on the sensations of breathing on the proximity of nostrils, or to the movements of the abdomen when breathing in and out.
Here, we are not controlling breathing but focusing to being aware of one's natural breathing process/rhythm. Often mind will wander to random thoughts, but just try to concentrate on breathing.
- Directing attention at various areas of the body and noting body sensations that happen in the present moment.
- Engage in Yoga Practice
- Focus on sounds, sensations, thoughts, feelings and actions that happen in the present.
The description on the numbered points will be further detailed in next post!
