Listen it really cracks me up that the Targaryens were a family so far down the food chain of Old Valyria that instead of staying in Valyria to try and climb their way up through the ranks social standing they just went “fuck this let’s leave the country” and they did and that’s the only reason they weren’t caught up in the Doom, and that's the only reason they survived at all and went on to have this millennia-long dynasty in Westeros
The Targaryens were the runts of the Valyrian litter but they ended up as the only surviving family and the only remembered name because they fled their homeland to try and escape their low status, it’s fucking hilarious. Like can you imagine the expressions on the faces of the upper-level Valyrians if they knew
The Targaryens are these big dramatic powerful people who held power for thousands of years in Westeros, but they were only barely on the bottom rung of high society in old Valyria, I’m gonna be laughing about this for years
