It’s Friday!! Let the Food Fight Commence
2 weeks in a row we, at the Splatts house, have been slappin meals together last minute.
I think we are goin though one of those periods where you totally brain-fart on ideas for dinner.
My way to combat this, is with meat. Even though my freezer is starting to get a little low, fair time is just around the corner. That is where I get my beef and pork. Supporting local kids and families.
Now the Food
If you haven’t noticed I use the crap out of this Green Mountain Pellet Grill.
Get your grill goin to about 450F in preparation for some beef steaks.
Back in the kitchen preheat your over to 425F. This is where the fries are goin to be cooked.
I rarely use anything ‘exotic’ when seasoning my steaks.
Just good ol’ salt and pepper does the trick
Season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Set those steaks aside and let’s get working on the fries.
We use either russets or red potatoes, this time we had some russets in the pantry so let’s cut them up.
Then put them in a bowl that has a lid. Pour a generous amount of olive oil into the bowl of steak fries. Season liberally with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano and parsley
Hold onto the lid and shake the living snot out of it. Swirling and shaking spreading all the oil and seasonings on the fries.
Then lay them out on a cookie sheet and toss them in the oven.
Cook them for about 10-15 minutes then give them a flip
The olive oil does a good job of making it so the fries don’t stick.
Now throw those steaks on the grill.
Then head inside and start cutting up some veggies.
Tonight we are doin broccoli and cauliflower. It all won’t fit in our steamer pot so just put an inch of water in the bottom of a pan and place the veggies in and put the lid on.
Once the water starts to boil, these veggies cook fast and can turn to mush before you know it.
Flip those juicy steaks over after about 10 minutes. The timing works out pretty good that when the steaks are done the fries are done also and the veggies are right in the ballpark as well.
So So juicy. Man I love this grill!!
Whip up some fri sauce using ketchup, mayo, BBQ sauce and ranch. Great I just exposed the secret sauce.
Don’t forget to put a little butter and salt and pepper on the broccoli and cauliflower.
This meals takes about 45 minutes from start to finish. That is a pretty quick meal when you are having a case of brain farts when it come to dinner ideas.
Until next time
