I've been running around like a mad thing today. I've spread myself between too many tasks and, as is typical for me on days like this, I've ended up achieving many fine halves of nothing. My fiftywords story for the day currently has seventy-four words spread over ten half-sentences, and it simply cannot decide want it wants to be. I have put it to one side in the hope that while I am away it will drift itself into some kind of presentable form and style and will be there waiting for me when I return.
In the meantime I wanted to say a big thank you and give a shout-out to everyone who has joined in with the fiftywords stories so far! Our relaunch of the fiftywords story format has only been at sea for two days but already we've had fifteen wonderful stories from twelve amazing authors. A congratulatory round of applause and pat on the back for all those on the list below!
I invite everyone reading to visit their blogs, read their stories and leave a comment or an upvote to encourage their efforts. You can also head straight over to the fiftywords tag where the collected works can be found.
Fiftywords stories can be full of emotion, or adventure, they can be dark, or they can be fun! For the latter I particularly enjoyed 's humorous food quandary today. You can find the full story here:

As we head into the week-end I'm going to suggest our first fiftywords theme. Inspired by the above story it's humour! Challenge yourself to produce a fiftywords story with an element of humour, irony, wryness or light-heartedness. Or even a full-on farce! It may not be your usual style, but it's a nice short format to experiment with something new. I'll round up again on Sunday, so you have a full two days to hone your story. I look forward to seeing what you can come up with!
I will be happily resteeming one of the stories I like best and no doubt I will be offering some of my small upvotes as encouragement.
Thanks for reading everyone and have a great week-end!
If you would like to join in, particularly if you're new to the platform, or recently returned, and looking for somewhere to start, please do! Just post your story with the "fiftywords" tag. You can follow the theme or simply take your inspiration where you find it. The only unbreakable(!) rule is to keep it to fifty words - ideally fifty on the nose - and also try and produce a complete and contained scene, moment, or story. In a future post I'll try and put some thoughts together as to what I think makes a good fiftywords story. But everyone will have their own ideas and all are welcome!
