Static pole is awesome for practicing dynamics! On static pole you can throw your momentum without fear of flinging yourself into oblivion (which would totally happen on spinner pole if you threw your momentum with the same enthusiasm). Okay, you could probably still fly off the pole, but what I mean is that since the pole does not move and is "static" this is the best mode to practice trickster moves such as tumbles and drops and creating more dynamic movement. In today's pole combo video - the first portion involves a dynamic lift into an invert (requiring lots of abs) and the next little move where you move from one side to a double leg hook (genie) to the other side is called the devils point shuffle. Devil's point shuffle takes quite a lot of effort to maneuver -it took me half a year from when I learned of this trick to be able to do this a little more smoothly. If I don't get into momentum coming down one side and going back up the other side, I surely miss the hook. Hope you enjoyed today's video. :)
