"Rolex" is the short form from "rolled eggs".
It is a meal, that is very common i.e. in Uganda. One can buy it at nearly every street there. It costs about 0,25 €, which is about a tenth of their normal daily income. It is enough to keep a person fed up for a few hours.
Rolex are cooked in a simple open fire place, usually it is heated by char coil or small pieces of wood.
My daughter bought a cooking plate in Uganda, so that we are able to create Rolex in our garden.
To do it you mix some flour with water and a bit salt to balls.
Then you press them to patties and put them on the heated and oiled iron plate.
There you prepare several of these "Chiabatties" (I'm not sure if it is spelled correctly)
Now you bake some eggs on the plate. If you want you can mix them with some onions and carrots
The baken eggs are now rolled with the Chiabattie. If you want, you can add some tomato to it. And don't forget salt and pepper.
It is very yummy. For us it is a nice and romantic recall to Uganda. There it is (more or less) their daily food.
