Hi fellow Steemians. Today I want to share with you a simple recipes that you can make at home by yourself to enjoy with your friends and family. Mussels are very nutritious and delicious. I hope you try out these recipes!
Steamed Mussels
Ingredients
2 tablespoons spoons of butter
Cup of white wine, dry
1.5 kg of fresh mussels, properly debearded and cleaned
Cup chopped fresh parsley
Cup of minced shallots
Black pepper to taste
Directions
Heat the butter to medium heat and add the shallots
Pour in the mussels and the wine. Raise the heat and cook until the mussels shells open. This will be about 5 mins
Pour the mussel and all the cooked ingredients into a bowl. Sprinkle in the ground pepper and parsley.
Serve while hot!
Mussels with Garlic Butter
I must say this is my personal favorite. I love how it feels in the mouth and the smell is amazing! I know you will love it.
Ingredients
1 teaspoon lemon peel, grated
2 tablespoons lemon juice, fresh
6 minced garlic cloves
Cup chopped shallots
4 tablespoons chopped parsley
10 tablespoons of butter
1.5 kg of fresh mussels, debearded and scrubbed
Directions
Place the mussels in an oven for about 5 minutes and cook over high heat until they open. Shake the pan severally.
Transfer to a bowl and discard those that don’t open.
Melt the butter. Add shallots and garlic and heat till tender.
Add parsley (3 table spoons), lemon juice and lemon peel plus liquid from mussel and boil.
Season with pepper, drizzle the butter from garlic over the mussel and sprinkle 1 table spoon of parsley.
Serve while still hot and enjoy!
When preparing mussels always keep in mind that less is more. Simplicity is the key word here.
Mussels can be served with beans and cheese, bread and French fries, red pepper aioli or steamed tomatoes. All these make a great main course.
