Intro
I just wanted to share some positive lessons I have learned from hard times. Enjoy!
Breakfast
Oats
Despite having a small amount of money I was able to learn more about affordable nutritious breakfasts. In the UK I can get a KG or porridge for 40p and milk is cheap.
I started experimenting with different combinations, because plain porridge is awful. Jam, fruit, cocoa powder, raisins, sugar, honey and syrup make this dish palatable. In a survival situation is makes a very adaptable dish, which provides a lot of energy for the morning.
The most important meal is breakfast, because it sets you up for the day. Lunch and dinner meals should be smaller, many people make the mistake of eating a huge meal before bed. Then wonder why they are getting fat and have reflux, evening meals should be nutrient rich not energy rich.
Granola
Is another cheap breakfast serial, again made from grains with dried fruit mixed in. You can add a variety of things to spice it up if you want, I found it filling like porridge. About £1 for a bag in the UK.
Conclusion
Look for ways to turn negative situations to your advantage, remember that strength and weakness are relative. Although it may sound simple, thinking about food differently will happen when SHTF. I recommend spending less on expensive breakfast foods that are full of sugar, save the money for preps.
