JUICE | Orange, Chinese Pear & Ginger Juice
Ingredients
4 oranges, peeled
3 Chinese pears, skin on but cut
1-inch piece of ginger
I use the orange peel and pulp to make enzyme fertiliser - just add sugar and yeast (baker's, brewer's, ragi - all work).
I like to use a tall bowl to collect the pulp. Sometimes, I go crazy and juice as much as 2-3 litres a go, so I use this big green bowl. I colour code my utensils - green bowls are all for vegetable waste matter to go to make enzyme fertiliser.
I have a basket to put everything for my juicer - all the parts, bits and pieces. The basket helps a lot by keeping everything together, and also prevents the auger (the big black screw lah) from rolling away and dropping onto the floor.
Underneath the basket is a super-absorbent micro-fibre mat I got from ACE Hardware, it absorbs all the water that drips down. I almost never towel dry my utensils (its the perfect way to spread pathogens); instead, I'm a firm believer in evaporating to dryness. Ever since I learnt the technique in Form 4 Chemistry class. I took a close-up of a grey mat for you.
Haha, I drank the juice while my hands were wet and completely forgot to take photos. I'm such a klutz. Makes about 1 litre.
