Hi guys. Welcome back to the 3rd part of Sri Lankan Recipes. Sri Lankans likes to eat this food so much. They serve this for mainly breakfast and foe dinner.
String Hoppers
What you need
String Hopper mold
String Hopper wattie (woven small circle trays - available in Sri Lankan grocery stores).
Roasted red or white Rice flour (Ready made string hopper flour)
METHOD
Take two cups of rice flour to a dry bowl. Add 1tsp of salt.
Boil 4 cups of water and add it to the rice flour until you form dough. The dough shouldn’t stick to the bowl. It should be light, fluffy and dry to the touch)
Fill the mould with the dough and squeeze fine strings to the watties. (squeeze in the shape of circles.)
Stack the watties on top of each othr in a steamer and steam well.
Now take the string hoppers out from the watties and serve it with Kirihodi, onion sambol, coconut sambol, seeni sambol, malu ambulthiyal or meat curry.
