It's been an incredible week full of amazing events and stories one of them being our product being used in the My Kitchen Rules SA Kitchen!
Here at Che Gourmet we are inspired by our travels around the world and one of the products we love to create and share is our Gochujang paste.
Gochujang is a Korean Chilli Pepper Paste and is made through the long fermentation of Soy Beans and Korean Red Pepper Flakes among a few other ingredients. We have taken a long time to source our organic soy beans from Japan and flakes from South Korea and after 6 months of experimentation and a few trials and error we have perfected our glorious Umami rich paste with no preservatives, colourants or thickeners! All natural! All good :)
Gochujang is an extremely versatile ingredient and is used in hundreds of Korean dishes around the world. It is primarily used as a paste when making Kimchi (another Korean staple I will tell you all about soon) but my favourite dish has to be Bibimbap. Bibimbap is a dish made of steamed rice, veggies, a big helping of Gochujang and sometimes a fried egg; mixed all together it is a taste explosion in your mouth!
The recent winners of My Kitchen Rules South Africa 2017, Jamandi & Machiel, used our paste in an inspiring Pork Belly dish that was part of their amazing menu offering. We will be recreating this dish very soon!
