Usually, I like to take tea in a routine life. I am not much fond of coffee but during my recent trip to South India (Karnataka state) I really loved the coffee. Filter coffee is a part of life in South India. In my whole trip, I didn't take a tea at all and enjoyed the real coffee taste made of coffee beans called filter coffee.
First time in my life I saw coffee plantation and the procedure how it is grown.
Irrigation with sprinkler during March - April increases blossoming and results in higher yields. Coffee beans are harvested once in a year.
There are mainly two varieties of coffee produced, Arabica and Robusta. Robusta is mainly grown in Karnataka state as it needs low elevation and less rainfall as compared to Arabica.
Coffee is harvested from November to February. Coffee fruits harvested when they become ripe. When it is ripe beans come out easily. After picking fruits beans are dried and roasted, the color of coffee depends on the roasting temperature.
