Preparation of Jam
Point of Great Concern
There is no need to use pectin to make jam; however, this will help the jam to have the consistency similar to jelly and prevent it from being drowned.
Prepare The Fruit
Wash the fruits with tap water to remove any impurities or adulterants present on the skin of the fruit. Remove peels, stems and any damaged parts that cannot be eaten. Then cut these fruits into smaller pieces.
Crush The Fruit
After you have cleaned and prepared the fruit and allowed it to dry for a while, you must crush the fruit with blenders or crushers of any type.
Addition of Ingredients
During boiling, add acid, sugar, and heat while stirring. Heat until all the mixture is homogeneous. Stir constantly and keep stirring to avoid burning the fruit. The boiling fruit mixture will release the juice and prevent it from boiling. Use sheet test to check the end of the heat.
Packing and Cooling
After the jam is ready, turn off the heat and remove the pot from the burner. Fill the sealed bottle with jam and allow it to cool before use.
