It seems to have gotten into our system since childhood that chicken nuggets is a kids meal. And them fast food joints have made us continue said diet into adulthood. What great marketing to get us hooked for life onto a low budget and high profitting food ingredient. That's business success right there.
Another thing about the chicken nuggets is that there is a lot of bad report on what they're made of. Some reports say that there are so much fillers in a chicken nugget that there is only a small percentage of actual chicken in a nugget that it could be call a "fish" nugget and it'd be fine too.
Being in the F&B industry for 7 years now, I can say that it really depends on the supplier. Yes they make pretty much look all the same but just because they look the same doens't mean they are made the same. Looks can be deceiving... hahaha
For the most part, chicken nuggets are in fact made with... yes you guessed it... chicken. To me, all these negative news surrounding chicken nuggets are plain hoax.
It's either made of minced chicken or chicken tenders/breasts. The mince chicken nuggets are of lower quality as you could be mincing like any part of the chicken and it'll still be called chicken nuggets. Chicken nuggets that are made from the chicken tenders or chicken breasts cut into strips are of higher quality as you'll be getting nothing but chicken meat itself and you know where it comes from.
In terms of taste, they both taste pretty much the same.
The pic above is a picture of the chicken nuggets I use. Very inexpensive and quick to serve. Just throw them in the deep fryer and you got yourself a meal.
Cooking methods would also cause, not so much the taste, but the texture of the nuggets to differ. You could oven bake these and it would come out the same but fresh oil in a deep fryer at the right temprature will give it a crisp that you can't get otherwise.
The nuggets I serve at my food truck are often extra crispy as I leave them in the fryer a little longer that the usual fast food places. Another reason why I think mine is superior in taste and texture is because I cook them to order.
So if you're extra hungry, you could get some nuggets with your burgers or get some for a light snack.
