I have made plantain arepas and wanted to share my experience with you. The first thing is that I am not sure about the English translation of this fruit since for us it is not the same as a banana. However, according to what I have read both plantain and banana are valid terms.
I wanted to share my experience with you because in the beet arepas post I commented that I had not yet tried the plantain ones. However, when I did I would stop by and write a post.

QuerĂa compartir mi experiencia con vosotros porque en el post de las arepas de remolacha comentĂ© que aĂşn no habĂa probado las de plátano. Sin embargo, cuando lo hiciera me pasarĂa por aquĂ y escribirĂa un post.
The preparation procedure is different as you have to boil the plantain until it is soft and then puree it and add it to the corn dough. To be honest, it wasn't my favorite. I think I prefer the beet ones.
The reason I didn't like the plantain arepa was that the mixture took on a slightly bitter taste that I didn't like. I thought it would be just sweet. I don't know if it is because the plantain was not very ripe. I'll have to try it again later to see if the flavor is still present.
El procedimiento de preparaciĂłn es diferente, ya que hay que hervir el plátano hasta que estĂ© blando y luego hacerlo purĂ© y añadirlo a la masa de maĂz. Para ser honesto, no fue mi favorito. Creo que prefiero los de remolacha.
La razĂłn por la que no me gustĂł la arepa de plátano fue que la mezcla tomĂł un sabor ligeramente amargo que no me gustĂł. PensĂ© que serĂa sĂłlo dulce. No sĂ© si es porque el plátano no estaba muy maduro. TendrĂ© que volver a probarlo más tarde para ver si el sabor sigue presente.
For the filling, I used cucumber, onion, pink salt, lots of tomatoes, parsley, and paisa cheese. This cheese is considered one of the healthiest in my country and that is why I wanted to use it.
Para el relleno, utilicĂ© pepino, cebolla, sal rosada, mucho tomate, perejil y queso paisa. Este queso es considerado uno de los más saludables en mi paĂs y por eso quise utilizarlo.
