Every Thursday, I volunteer at the Food Pantry at the Lacey United Methodist Church in Forked River, New Jersey, with Lori from 12 noon until approximately 1:45pm. While we have our steady people that show up after our lunch program, I would love to see more people take advantage of this opportunity that are in need. Since the pandemic has become a major conversation piece, more people found themselves financially strapped than ever before. There is no shame picking up some food from us to feed yourself or your family.
We are stocked with plenty of canned goods, ranging from soup to chili. Of course, there are times when we are out of certain things, but it is well worth the visit if you live in the Lacey Township area. We carry frozen meat, usually ham steaks, chopped meat and chicken. We are usually stocked with eggs and butter. We have cold cereal, shelf-stable milk, tuna, salmon, snacks, as well as much more.
We do have to fill out a few forms on you on your first visit. After that, it is mostly signatures for State and Federal records. On occasion, we have pet treats, grooming supplies and soap. Some people are too proud to except these gifts, but everyone needs a helping hand sometimes. There are a small group of homeless people that come for food, as well as those struggling to make ends meet. If you need the help with obtaining some food, we are more than happy to assist you.
