I picked up the above clipart while thinking of a Thanksgiving picture to use for this blog. However, the turkey seems to be happy like I was yesterday, but I feel like the actual meal shouldn't be doing a dance. Oh well! Yesterday was the first time in my entire life, and believe me that's a long time, where I didn't have a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal in someone's house. There was no Turkey basting in the oven adding a wonderful aroma as the parade marched in front of Macy's on the television.
This year, we decided to make reservations at Captain's Inn in Forked River, based upon a suggestion we received from a very close friend. This suggestion was a very good one as the experience couldn't have been any better! The restaurant had two hour sittings that rotated every hour. There was Cream of Turkey soup, salad, fruit, shrimp, cheese and vegetables to start your meal. The center section had tortellini, salmon, turkey, stuffing, mixed vegetables, smashed potatoes and sweet potatoes.
Thee carving station had prime rib and turkey. The best part of the carving station is you can get all the skin you wanted, as I love turkey skin. There was also cranberry sauce there! The dessert station was a holiday feast with pastries and all kinds of cake. I know I have probably missed a few things as I was recollecting my eyes growing bigger than my stomach. The price was $42 per person but well worth it. There will be a reservation made for next year!
