Greetings fellow steemians are you hungry? here with some delicious homecooked Jamaican breakfast food.
One of my favorite things about visiting grandma is her delicious home cooking packed with so much love.
Her special breakfast is made up of dumplings, codfish with ackee* and and fried plantains.
The codfish and ackee is cooked with onions and peppers of your choice :)
Another staple with grandma's breakfast is homemade cocoa tea.
She grinds the cocoa to a fine almost dust like consistency and mixes it with condensed milk. No sugar added. Pardon the lack of detail but the way grandma cooks is by taste, sight and feel. She follows no recipes and cooks as she feels.
*Ackee is Jamaica's national fruit. However, before eating you must be sure that it is ripe otherwise an unripened ackee fruit has enough toxins in its' flesh to kill you. The raw fruit is banned in the USA but you can buy it canned which is safe and sound :)
As always thank you for stopping by and thank you for your support. My followers, where are you from? Does your grandma make a favorite hometown dish for you? Let me know
