My dear steemians,
Today, I want to talk about cow's milk! I'm tired of hearing people talking positively about the benefits of cow's milk while it's very bad for your health. I really love cows but their milk is not compatible with an adult diet.
I based my research on several serious sources and with my personal diet experience. I learned a few months ago that I am lactose intolerant. And since, I read about it, I stopped consuming dairy products and I saw the changes.
So, I will try to share my knowledge on this subject and tell you why you should reduce or even stop cow's milk and dairy.
Why do the media extol the benefits of cow's milk for health ??? Simply because dairy is a huge business in industrialized countries. They can't afford to lose their income ...
A bit like gluten and sugar. Sugar will be the subject of a future post :).
If you are interested in gluten, I invite you to read my last post:
[EN,FR] πΎπ« Why you should stop/reduce your gluten intake ??? Pourquoi vous devriez stopper/rΓ©duire votre consommation de gluten ??? πΎπ«
5 reasons to reduce or stop cow's milk and dairy.

1- Cow's milk is allergenic
Allergy is a reaction of the immune system when it encounters a food allergen (a protein). In cow's milk, there is three times more protein than in breast milk.
This can cause allergies and pathologies such as:
- asthma
- eczema
- asthenia
- headache. migraine
- bronchitis
- nasopharyngitis
...
Lactose is a naturally occurring sugar in milk. To digest it, you have to have an enzyme called lactase, which mammals have from birth. This lactase production stops almost completely after weaning.
Therefore, continuing to consume dairy products causes bad effects such as intolerance.
Intolerance is triggered by the enzyme, which causes lactose to accumulate and ferment in the gut. What causes:
- bloating
- flatulence
- diarrhea
- nausea
- intestinal pain
...
2- Cow's milk is indigestible
Lactose and saturated fats in milk do not allow the human stomach to digest it. Casein adheres to the intestinal walls, causing the production of antibodies by the body and therefore more or less severe inflammation.
3- Cow's milk can bring many diseases
Depending on the milk origin and the feeding of the cows, we can find in the milk: pesticides, heavy metals, but also hormones ...
A good cocktail for your body, right? π·
The fatty acids contained in the milk would be harmful and would increase the chances of.
- breast cancer
- coronary disease
- pro-inflammatory effects.
Antibiotics can destroy your intestinal flora and weaken your immune system, which can no longer protect the body against disease.
4- Cow's milk is not good for bones
It is a popular idea to think that milk is good for bones! The industrials use it sales argument because it is a big lobbying in the agribusiness.
Superman, you are a lier because excessive intake of more than three dairy products per day weakened bone structure. It becomes more friable and therefore more prone to fractures.
The calcium content in milk is a myth. Sardines, spinach, almonds, nuts, oranges, seafood, white beans, chickpeas, spirulina or wholemeal bread.
5- Cow's milk generates cholesterol and acne
A high intake of milk or dairy products promotes the presence and increase of the bad cholesterol that is responsible for most cardiovascular diseases.
Dihydrotestosterone, present in milk, is the hormone of acne and that's what activates the production of sebum therefore acne.
In summary,
There is nothing in dairy products and cow's milk that can not be found elsewhere in other foods.
There are many alternatives and lactose-free products today. I advise you to taste the plant milks like almond milk, coconut milk or rice milk that are very tasty!
