Today, I will introduce a Korean traditional food ' SamGyeTang (蔘鷄湯)'.
It is kind of chicken soup but has more flavor and is very healthy.
Nowadays, we enjoy SamGyeTang in all four seasons,
but it is well known as summer food in the past.
Do you feel weird why hot food would be summer food?
In summer, we feel very flabby because of the high temperature and humid weather, so we believe high protein and hot soup can give us health energy.
In Korea, we believe there are 3 special hot days in summer and to supplement lost energy, we eat health food and the most popular one is SamGyeTang
Here is the recipe
Ingredient : 1 Chicken(1kg), sticky rice, ginseng, garlic, jujube, chestnut, salt, pepper
- Rinse the sticky rice and soak it in water for an hour.
- Clean the whole chicken.
- Stuff the chicken with sticky rice, ginseng, garlic, jujube and chestnut.
- Put the chicken, water, ginseng, garlic, jujube, chestnut in the pot and boil about an hour.
- Eat the chicken first then make the sticky rice like a porridge.
