This is a german sweet pastry with a long tradition.
Donuts or carnations are typically filled with apricot jam in Altbayern and Austria, but other marmalade fillings such as raspberry jam, or even pudding and nougat fillings are sold in the carnival season. In Austria donuts are always filled with apricot jam without an additional name, otherwise this has to be stated.
Berlin pancakes are, like the carnivorous pots, balls of yeast dough, which after baking are filled with jam or similar. They are sometimes called Berlin bales. In Hesse and parts of Thuringia, donuts also kreppel are made of pastry from yeast dough like Berlin pancakes.
