In the Asian Ayurvedic medicine known for many 1000 years turmeric finds a versatile use. In our country it is better known as a component of curry powder and is responsible for its yellow colour. With its slightly spicy and bitter taste, many dishes can be refined. Turmeric is also used to colour food and drinks as a cheap substitute for saffron, which is hardly affordable.

Turmeric is also said to be effective against Alzheimer's, or at least to slow down this process. This is supposed to have the anti-inflammatory property of the yellow root, which surpasses the brain's defense of blood and can therefore also be effective here.
