Here is my favorite recipe for tomato sauce, this sauce is good with any kind of pasta
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large white onion, minced
5 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (28 ounce can) crushed tomatoes
1 (15 oz can) tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce can) tomato paste
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 tablespoon fennel seeds
2 tablespoon ground oregano
2 bay leaves
1/2 cup white wine
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ cup chopped fresh basil
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
Directions:
- Heat a large pot over medium high heat, add olive oil and onion and saute for 5 minutes until onions are soft.
- Add garlic and saute for another minute until all softened
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, fennel seeds, oregano, bay leaves, wine, salt, pepper, basil and parsley.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 4 hours, the longer, the better.
- Serve as is or use an immersion blender to blend smooth
