Peas are most definitely one of the most versatile vegetables to cook with! You can steam them, throw them into a stir fry, or even just have them raw. Like most vegetables, they contain a variety of vitamins and minerals (vitamins A, B, C, K, Iron and manganese) and are high in fibre. There are many varieties when it comes to peas such as regular garden peas, snow peas and my personal favourite, sugar snap peas! Unlike regular garden peas, the sugar snap peas pods are edible! They also contain a slight sweetness to it along with a satisfying crunchy texture. Sugar Snap Peas are easily one of the simplest yet most nutritious vegetable to cook and consume!
Now for the simple sugar snap pea stir-fry recipe, you will need:
- 1 portion of sugar snap peas
- 1 tablespoon of Goose fat (Makes the dish taste exponentially much better)
- Salt
- Garlic powder (use fresh garlic if preferred but garlic powder works just as well)
- Cayenne pepper powder
That is all! The beauty about this recipe is that the only fresh ingredient you would need is the sugar snap peas and nothing else!
- Wash and dry the sugar snap peas.
- Heat up the frying pan on a medium-high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon of goose fat into the frying pan.
- When the fat has properly melted, add the sugar snap peas into the frying pan.
- Season with a pinch of salt and stir-fry for a minute.
- Cover the frying pan for about another minute or so before adding in the garlic powder and cayenne pepper.
- Stir-fry the peas until the desired charred-ness is achieved.
- Plate up and enjoy!
All Done!! Trust me it taste a whole lot better than it looks!
