Most people haven’t even heart about these foods, which are the most expensive in the world. A meal at a restaurant is far more cheap than these products. The price of these foods results from the level of difficulty in cooking them, mostly.
Iberian dried ham
Iberian dried ham, also known as Jambon Iberico, is the most expensive ham on the planet and it’s made in Spain. Every food lover would like to have some of it in his plate, but not anyone can afford it, since it’s 392 dollars a kilo.
Japanese Wagyu stake
This delicacy is considered one of the most tasty foods in the entire world. The steak is cooked in Japan and it has a special taste because of the texture of the butter used in the preparation process. This stake can be bought at 450 dollars per kilo.
Moose cheese
Moose cheese is made at the Moose House farm in Sweden, and it’s the most expensive cheese in the world, at the price of 1.074 dollars/kilo.
Saffron
This may not be a food, but it’s certainly used in the most sophisticated recipes. Saffron is a spice that costs between 100 and 400 dollars, and it’s so expensive because it can only be collected by hand, in a specific time of the year. It’s the most expensive spice and one kilo is the equal of 300.000 flowers.
Matsutake mushrooms
These mushrooms are considered some of the most rare foods in the world, and if you find them in a store, they shouldn’t cost less than 600 dollars per kilo. You can usually find them in Japan, but they can also be bought in Asian countries.
Kopi Luwak coffee
This coffee is really popular in Indonesia, Phillippines and South India, being the most expensive coffee in the world, at the price of 1.200 dollars a kilo. The Kopi Luwak coffee is obtained by being ingested by an animal, and then expelled through excrement.
Albino caviar
And now, the most expensive food in the world: albino caviar. It costs 9.100 dollars per kilo, and it’s made out of sturgeon roe, a fish than can usually be found in the Caspian Sea.
In my opinion, these are foods that you should try at least once in a lifetime. What do you think, would you be willing to spend so much money on food?
