I enjoy cooking but....
If I am being completely honest here, my diet sucks. I prepare home cooked meals most days, but we are a large family and mama is busybusybusy Healthy food is so much more expensive, and with four growing boys our food bill is already throw the roof. I estimate that I spend anywhere for $800-$1000 USD on food every month.
Also, I am really just not a big fan of....
Meal planning and grocery shopping (Do people really enjoy this part?!?!?)
This is what a weekish of groceries looks like here.
Oh yeah, all this too.
This is about $200 worth of food. Which is normally what I spend. I normally go shopping every 5 days or so (once a week if I can get away with it). We eat out maybe once a week, normally pizza and most always on Tuesdays (I did not figure the eating out in my food cost estimate, pizza is normally $30, if we do fast food it is closer to $40). I hate Tuesdays, stupid night shift.
Tonight I asked my dude for a dinner suggestion....
He said "something healthy". Salad for the win. As I mentioned my diet sucks, it has been awhile since I made salad (by itself) for dinner. If I am going to eat a stand alone salad, I want lots of goodies to pile on it. So after an hour worth of prep I enjoyed that massive salad pictured above, it was delicious. Also on the menu for the week is Shepard's Pie, Parmesan Chicken, Breakfast for dinner, and Pork Chops. Additionally, since we are still being honest here, I absolutely bought chicken tenders and french fries for whatever day I am feeling particularly overwhelmed in the next week. I am after all working 2 jobs nowadays, and I have never claimed to be any sort of superwoman.
Sometimes love looks like this....
