Food. It’s one of our basic needs. I think everybody could relate when the topic at hand is food. In my interest to discuss topics that would engage majority of blog readers, I chose this topic because being an OFW (overseas filipino worker) I don't have time to cook everyday. So, let me share a blog entry on this subject we all love – food.
I recently was in this artsy looking restaurant called Peppermill where I was led into by my craving of this relatively popular dish here in this country, which they call biryani. According to what I researched online, this dish originated in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Indian subcontinent. In my opinion, it is gastronomically pleasing because it has a lot of different spices mixed together to create an extraordinary meal out of the simple rice that Asians are fond of eating. It is a very creative way of putting together the staple rice and viand combination we consume daily. The Biryani has a lot of varieties that are consumed in different parts of Asia. The shrimp biryani is a personal favorite of mine.
Biryani is definitely one of my favorites and I think I now have a new go-to place to satisfy my biryani cravings. This is not only an artistic place, but it is very homey and serves excellent food. Two thumbs up!! Maybe next time I would try making my own version of the famous Biryani… only after I find those 15 spices on the recipe I saw! ‘Til my next blog entry.
