Fish and chips are most common take away in UK. The dish is of British origin and can be served with either garden peas or mushy peas as a side and with tartare sauce which is a bit tangy and goes nicely with fish.
The fish commonly used are cod or haddock which are battered with flour. The fries are thicker compared to the French fries served in food chains like McDonalds or Burger king making the fat content a bit less. Nevertheless it is fried and not very healthy compared to other options but once in a while is ok and it satisfies my palate.
The oil traditionally used are beef dripping or lard but these days vegetable oil is used considering diversity of population.
Have a great weekend dear steemians.
