This dessert is very popular in Europe and is in fact one of the most important dishes in traditional Viennese cuisine. The oldest known strudel recipe goes back to 1696. The dessert features a special dough that rises layer by layer, and while it's quite difficult to from scratch, pre-packeged strudel dough makes it easy for you to make your own home-made apple strudel.
Preparations
- Defrost the amount of mille-feuille you will use.
- Peel and chop an apple into small cubes.
- Mix the apple together with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of raisins.
- Place the apple filling in the centre of the mille-feuille dough.
- Fold the doughin half and press the edges together with a fork.
- Cook in a 200 degrees preheated oven until the pastry turns golden brown.
- Let the pastry cool, sprinkle powdered sugar on top and serve.
