お好み焼きでプチ天国/A little slice of heaven with "Japanese Pizza"

Okonomiyaki is a soul food of mine. It's famous to the Kansai region in Japan, especially in my mother's hometown of Osaka. I grew up with my mom making this a lot, calling it "Japanese pizza" since "okonomiyaki" is a bit of a mouthful to say for us US grown kids.
Visiting my grandma in her senior citizens home close to her apartment in Osaka, I always of course have to get a bite of either okonomiyaki or takoyaki. This time I filled that craving with "Japanese pizza".
お好み焼きは僕のソウルフードの一つ。子供の頃、大阪出身の母親によく作ってもらったこともあり、大阪のお好み焼きを食べるとお袋の味を思い出す。アメリカ育ちの僕たちには「お好み焼き」って言いにくいからうちでは「ジャパニーズピザ」と呼んでた。
自分のマンションの近くにあるケアホームに住んでる祖母に久しぶりに会いに行くときはやっぱりお好み焼きかたこ焼きが食べたくなる。今回は「ジャパニーズピザ」で満喫できた。
