Hello Steemians,
Today I am back to give you my food addresses in Amsterdam! It is a city full of little lovely places where it is nice to eat. I enjoy discovering new original places every time I’m going to Amsterdam. From breakfast to dinner, I always had a good meal. I never had to spend a lot to find my happiness.
Breakfast or Brunch addresses:
Yoghurt Barn: The place where I had the opportunity to drink the best hot chocolate of my life! A mix of milk and white chocolate the result was perfect!! As indicated by its name "Yoghurt Barn" is specialized in yogurt. You choose the size and then you fill it with brownie, cookie, fruits, chocolate, … I really recommend you this place because the atmosphere is great. If you are a student, you can even get a 10% off on the bill.
Mook: It is a place specialized in pancakes. For less than 10€ you can order a big plate of pancakes topped with blueberry, chocolate, coconuts, honey, … They are delicious. Everything is homemade. You can accompany your pancakes with a homemade fresh fruit juice.
Corner bakery: If like me you love sugar, you have to try the freak sake. It is a pure calorie bomb. It is a milkshake surrounded by doughnuts, whip cream, marshmallow… everything is reunited to make you feel guilty for a week. You can also try delicious pancakes and fresh juices. I recommend you try the toast with avocado, it is a pure delight! At the table next to mine they were eating eggs that were looking good.
Lunch:
Febo: It is an original concept in the Netherlands. The simplest way to buy junk food but also the cheapest. You just have to put a coin in the machine and you’ll get a hamburger, French fries, … it’s not the best fast food you’ll eat but the concept is worth the try. The big advantage is that if you are hungry after a night out it will still be open. I tried the cheese croquette and I liked it.
Café de tuin: Place to eat « bitterballen ». A Dutch kind of tapas. A tasty meat snacks. It is a croquette with meat inside. Traditionally served with mustard. I am not a big fan of mustard, so I ate them without and that was perfect. Very tasty and easy to eat. I personally tasted them with a good beer
Snacks:
Stroopwafels: It means syrup waffle. This is a Dutch specialty. Stroopwafels are really thin waffles filled with caramel syrup. It comes from Gouda (city of Gouda). You can buy them in a little shop or in a market. I hardly advise you to try.
The cake of my aunt: It was love at first sight! When you go to the cake of my aunt, you enter in cake paradise! You can find homemade savory cake and accompany it with coffee or tea. I took a carrot cake and it was amazing. The piece of cake was huge, it was worth the money. The place is a huge and old school with cake decorations everywhere. It is completely kitsch. You can share a big table with other customers. It is really a friendly place where you have a good time.
Peejays: If like me you are a doughnut's amateur, it is the place to be. They propose homemade doughnuts with a delicious topping. They have monthly seasonal doughnuts. You can find doughnuts filled with Choco caramel sea salts (my favorite), crème Brulee, white choco, raspberry, lemon curd and so on.
Gouda cheese: If you are a cheese lover, you can’t get back from Amsterdam without a big part of gouda cheese. You can buy some in a lot of shops. For example, “Kaasmaker” is a special cheese shop. When you pass the door, it smells like strong cheese but it smells good. 😉 There is a lot of variety, you have plenty of choices: young gouda, old gouda, spicy gouda, gouda with truffle,… Perfect for an aperitif.
It is here that my articles about good addresses in Amsterdam end. I hope it will help you on your next trip to Amsterdam!
Personally, I can’t wait to be back in this wonderful city with my friends!! See you soon 😊
