Adamo's Pasta is a traditional Italian pasta production facility turned retail wholesaler turned restaurant. Starting out with family recipes, Adamo's now has a small shop selling freshly made pastas (squid ink spaghetti, fettuccine, linguini, tagliatelle, pappardelle, lasagna, ravioli...the list is endless). Any pasta that exists they make it and they make it FRESH. Literally from the kitchen, hand-made pasta and a selection of sauces for you to mix and match.
All of their products are available to either purchase takeaway ready-made, or as fresh ingredients for you to prepare at home or even dine-in! Tonight we tried to dine-in but sadly I was working late and only got there about 20 minutes before they closed so instead we got takeaway and I thought I'd do a plating and at-home review for you guys :)
Here is the menu that shows you the many different types of pastas and matching sauces available:
The little Gold, Silver and Bronze medals show the awards that specific pastas have won - their pasta is truly recognised and used to only be available to purchase at their shop for you to make at home but they've now expanded to offer retail, wholesale and an in-house restaurant attached to their production facilities.
First up, we decided to go with ...
Porcini Mushroom & Truffle Oil Pappardalle + Amatriciana
Amatriciana is a traditional tomato-based Italian sauce that gets its spice/heat from black pepper and chilli flakes combined with tomatoes, white wine, guanciale and pecorino cheese.
I would have preferred a slightly stronger truffle flavour but that's because I have an unhealthy obsession with truffle oil and like to be smacked in the face with it. The amatriciana sauce was flavoursome though and coated the pappardelle sheets nicely.
Next up...
Squid-ink Spaghetti (award winning!) + Marinara Sauce
The squid ink spaghetti had an amazing texture and taste. It's richer and has more depth than traditional pasta. The marinara sauce was good but the seafood was a bit mooshy (highly technical term) - the winner for this dish was definitely the squid ink spaghetti.
Last pasta dish...
Buffalo Ricotta & Saffron Ravioli + Pesto Sauce
We saved the best for last!! The Ravioli was beautifully al dente and the inside filling you could tell was freshly made buffalo ricotta. Perfectly paired with the pesto sauce - we've actually purchased their pesto sauce to eat at home and it's amazing so I knew we were in for a treat. Favourite dish by far!
Dessert was a mix of chocolate, ricotta or custard cannoli:
and some fresh Adamo's tiramisu:
Tried to cut a mini slice so you guys could see the inside :)
So there you have it! Something a little different for you guys, this is a typical Friday night for us. Usually a little lazy to cook but not wanting to sacrifice on food quality and get cheap take-out, Adamo's is a fantastic option. I hope you guys have something local like this that you can go to when you don't have time to cook :)
Until next time....!
