I don’t typically cook much meat or fish, but every once in a while we prepare a salmon.
If you have ever cooked fish you know how a seemingly easy dish can go from greatness to overcooked far too quickly. Grilling salmon is undeniably the best way to cook it easily and deliciously, so if you want to get it right, follow these instructions for the perfect filet.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound salmon filet
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- optional lemon wedges for serving
- Heat grill to high heat. While grill is heating, evenly sprinkle filet with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- When grill is fully heated, place the salmon skin side down on the grill and cook for about 8 minutes.
- Flip to cook the salmon on the skinned side, and leave on grill for 4 minutes. When white fat begins seeping through the salmon, you know the salmon is cooked.
- Remove from grill. Garnish with lemon and allow to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
We served it with a pile of corn relish for an unforgettable meal.
