In food safety, how we handle, store and prepare our food matters alot. Food safety helps to prevent infection and make sure that our food keeps enough nutrients for us to have a healthy diet. Unsafe food and water can cause infections and diseases such as diarrhoea, meningitis etc. Unsafe food also can deteriorate and be of poor quality, which means they lose nutrients and so we do not get enough of what we need for a healthy diet. Did you know? That there's no real benefit to washing meat and poultry. The way to kill bacteria is to cook all meat, seafood and poultry to proper temperatures.
Did you know? When leftovers are not properly stored in airtight shallow containers for rapid cooling there is the spread of bacteria. Never allow leftovers to cool to room temperature before refridgerating them.
Did you know? The most common symptoms of food borne diseases are stomach pains, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Do you know? Some harmful bacteria are becoming resistant to drug treatments. Overuse of antimicrobials in agriculture animal husbandry, is one of the factors leading to the emergence and spread of antimicrobials resistance.
