Today I harvested a big Patola and think for what can I cook from this. Since it's been a while the last time I cooked Patola and my favorite dish for this when I added some canton noodles. This is known to be a good combination, the canton noodles and the sweetness from patola really blends so well. But as of now I wanted this dish to have some soup and some soury fruity taste from calamansi extract.
Allow me to share what I ate for lunch today and I'm gonna show you how I prepare this savory soup with some crunch from chicharon.
Ingredients:
½ of Patola
1-2 cloves of garlic
1 small white onion
1 small pack canton noodles
2-3 pieces of calamansi
¼ cup of soy sauce
1 tbsp of vegetable oil
1 ½ cup of water
Salt and pepper
Procedure:
1.Peel of the skin of patola, cut in half then cut into chunks and soak in the water to prevent it from darkening, set aside. Drain before adding to the soup.
2.Sautè garlic and onion, add water, soy sauce and some salt. Let it boil.
3.While it's boiling add the patola chunks and canton noodles.
4.Add the pepper and calamansi extract. Check the taste if you needed to add some salt and extra seasonings.
5.Slightly stir it while it's cooking. Transfer then add chicharon for toppings (crushed). Best serve while hot along side with steam rice.
Perfect for meal time! Loving the sweetness from patola since it was cooked straight from harvesting. I wish I add more fried noodles but maybe next time. Hope you'll try it!
Gracias ❤️
