According to research done, eating slow meals reduces obesity and the risk of metabolic disease.
Research results from the American Heart Association's 2017 US Science Session show that slow eating can be healthier
A group of scientists at Hiroshima University launched an investigation in 2008 to examine 642 men and 441 women with an average age of 51 and no metabolic disease to test the effects of slow or fast eating on human health.
Scientists, who distinguished three groups of participants as fast, normal and slow dinners, explained that eating slower is healthier by following the participant's eating habits for five years.
According to the results of the study, the rate of eating fast food is 11.6%, while the rate of eating at normal speed is 6.5% and that of slow eating is 2.3%.
"People do not feel a sense of satiety when they eat fast, and so they eat too much," said Hiroshima University research writer and cardiologist Dr. Takayuki Yamaji, "eating slower may be the best way to prevent metabolic diseases."
Scientists explain that eating fast food leads to more weight gain, wider waist circumference, and higher blood glucose, says that eating fast food raises and lowers values in human blood and thus causes insulin resistance.
