I ordered some snack boxes on line. The delicious looking packets of wholesome goodness, sent my tummy into a spin. 74 snacks it said I can choose from. They contain ingredients, nutritients and calories etc. £3.99 for one but you get first and 5th free.
Imagine my face when they came and the little pockets of heaven were just that.......little. The size of a playing card deck and an inch high........only 4 in a box. My husband thought that was amusing as he sat tucking into his Ben and Jerrys ice cream.
Lovely and convinient as the were it really didn't float my snack boat.
So I go back to homemade treats. There are plenty of recipes for under 150 calories (check amounts first) where you can make snacks at home such as:
Backed apple slices and cinnamon
Cocktail sticks with pickled onion, beetroot and feta or goats cheese ( steady on the cheese, but a good fat to eat ! )
Roast veg sticks/ raw veg sticks
Boiled eggs
Tortilla (wholewheat) baked and cut into triangles with humous
Small Baked baby potato with cottage cheese
Tuna filled lettuce wrap
3 squares of dark melted chocolate with a few strawberries rolled in
That's before you go into any fancy baking or cooking scenarios, there is loads on the net also but these are the ones I currently do. Pre packed snacks like the ones I am trying are nice but I don't think I will buy again.
Remember I am no dietry expert, I am just a woman who is a little bit fat trying to be a little bit thin.
