I have a few hours between my kids needing me. My youngest is out with his friends in Puerto Madero and my oldest needs me later this afternoon. He is looking at a used Super Soco TC50 - which does not require license or registration here.
So I have a bit of free time.
Saw this and thought of inflation
Would you pay 400 for a burger?
.America is just beginning our first encounter with hyperinflation, but down here in the deep south, we have been seeing it for some time.
First off, this same special was running for $10 just five years ago when the $100 was the largest bill our currency (the Argentine peso) had to offer.
Back then a$r 100 was worth u$s 6.00
Now a$r 100 is worth u$s 0.50
So you start with a 200/1 exchange rate, meaning that 100 dollars will convert to 20,000 pesos. Divide that by 400 and you get $2 in United States paper.
That said, they have printed $500 and $1000 bills in the last 5 years and now the largest bill is only worth $5 USD - as a bonus prices constantly rise.
The burger above looked really good
So I paid the two dollars to get it and was surpised by several things.
First: The hamburger, though it was a double cheese, neither one of the patties could be seen. I had to open it to find out if they had gotten it wrong or not.
Second: There was no sign of ketchup or onion. Just dry bread, meat and cheese.
Third: For two bucks, I did not think I would get any potato sticks or a shot of Coke.
Money games.
People say that bitcoin, and other crypto-currencies by extension, should be avoided because they are so volatile. Always fluctuating.
Fluctuation is much more preferable to a constant dive in value!
