Why would you want to be unaware? Because what you really want seems too scary to go after or, if you went after it, you probably wouldn’t get it anyway? So what happens? You eat not to make yourself happy, but to tolerate being so UNHAPPY. And on one level this seems to work. You are able to cope. But what really happens is that the food PREVENTS you from getting what you really want. It numbs you just enough to cause you to settle for less than you deserve. It anesthetizes you just enough to make you able to tolerate being stuck. What really happens is that eating becomes a SUBSTITUTE FOR LIVING YOUR LIFE.
As long as food is your lover, you will never find your ideal relationship. As long as food is your companion, you will never discover true friends. As long as food is your reward, you will never learn what truly pleasures you. As long as food is used to fill the hole in your heart, you will never fulfill your potential. The hole in your heart is not there by accident. It is there to send messages to you about what you need to truly be happy. These messages cannot be ignored forever. The goal is not to fill the hole in order to get on with your life. FILLING THE HOLE IS WHAT YOUR LIFE IS ABOUT!
