Cheese – Fondue a la Carte
Steemians – here comes some travel food review! I wrote about our delicious food at the oldest Spanish restaurant in old town Zurich already. This time we moved towards a real traditional Suisse thing – Fondue! Cheese! Fondue is considered a Swiss national dish and the canton of Fribourg prides itself on making the best ones – hence the name of the restaurant wifey chose: "Fribourger Fondue-Stübli". No meat available but with bread and potatoes. Hmmmm – I was not convinced about this idea - but my wife insisted on it so we did it – was expensive but good.
The service was perfect! Nice ladies explaining the background of the restaurant and the recipes. We asked some dull questions I think but all got replied patiently and in a lovely way. The restaurant is not a typical tourist shop and is frequented by locals as well. The menu is small – well just fondue and a lot of wine. I went for the moitié-moitié Fondue (two types of cheese) served with bread and potatoes. I had to pay in Fiat, I asked for SBD payment but not set-up yet – little minus on the evaluation list. Even price was high it was worth every cent or Centime.
Käse Fondue – das kulinarische Highlight?
So Steemians – ich war nicht überzeugt von der Idee, aber mitgefangen, mitgehangen. Es musste nach dem spanischen Highlight in Zürich nun was schön traditionell schweizerisches her! Wir – ähhhm - Frauchen fand das Fribourger Fondue-Stübli - lediglich 300m von unserer Residenz vor Ort entfernt – also angerufen, reserviert, hingegangen gegessen! Als ausgewiesener Fleisch Liebhaber war ich skeptisch aber allein der durchdringende Käsegeruch, der uns bei Betreten des Restaurants entgegenschlug war einfach köstlich, wie auch das Essen. Es wird gesagt, das dieses “Stübli“ seit über 40 Jahren die Nummer 1 auf dem Gebiet des Käsefondues ist – es gilt als das Urgestein für Käsefondue! Ein kleiner Familienbetrieb mit absolutem Fokus auf ein spezialisiertes Segment innerhalb der Schweizer Küche - die Fondue-Stube schlechthin.
Das Essen war gut und teuer, schaut Euch die Fotos an – Weibchen wollte gar nicht mehr weg, die Prinzessin hat sich auf das Brot konzentriert.
