These are pics I took some years ago. Are our friends surprised me with her husband mushroom. It was a mushroom puffball. Calvatia gigantea, commonly known as the giant puffball. It grows in mixed and deciduous forests, meadows, fields, steppes. It is found in temperate areas throughout the world.
All true puffballs are considered edible when immature. It tastes like chicken.
The fungus is a valuable medicine .It is a known styptic. It is the main source of the anti-tumor mucoprotein calvacin.
